Speaker 1

Hello, this is Cristina and Carmen and this is novelas con cafecito a podcast  where we re watch the novelas from our childhood while drinking coffee, and critically analyze them. Come watch with us!

Speaker 1

Hi, this is Cristina and Carmen and this is novelas con cafecito. Today we're talking about episode three of Terasa. Yes, yeah, I almost said two.

Speaker 2

Oh, that was last week. Yes, get it together.

Speaker 1

Oh, so the episode starts off where Uh, Episode 2 left off.

Speaker 2

I, I think this is gonna be a thing. It's always just gonna start like with the last 10 seconds I should stop saying that then is what you're saying? Yeah, but you know what I was gonna say. So I I looked at the credits and I saw Aida's dad's name and I read Hernan. Also I think that it is Ruben but for.

Speaker 1

Like the first half of the this episode, until somebody said his name, I thought it was Hernan just like you it in the beginning and then I was like wait so but this actor, so then this actors name is Hernan and is he just like super cool that he doesn't need a last name in the credits like I guess it says Hernan like yeah like Shakira

Speaker 1

Right, she doesn't have a last name into.

Speaker 1

Shakira, it's Shakira Shakira.

Speaker 1

No, you're right. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1

It was just weird. I was like wow, this is.

Speaker 1

So Teresa is giving her iconic speech to Paulo and Aida

Speaker 1

And she tells them, uh, there's gonna be a day that they're going to beg for her forgiveness and Teresa won't give it to them. Yeah, they're going to need her help and she's not gonna give it to them, no?

Speaker 1

And I was trying to remember what happens later and I can't, so I'm like waiting, but.

Speaker 1

It's it does happen. It does whatever something happens where they need her and she's like eff you guys.

Speaker 1

Huh? I can't even think about what it is or what it could be.

Speaker 1

Whatever it is, it's good.

Speaker 1

Uh, and then she turns around. She she's leaving and she turns back around to just, oh, by the way Entre Ser o no ser, yo soy yeah just really good it's so casual also um Paulo and Aida like just sitting there or whatever and his bruise does not look like a bruise. The one on his lips and looks like a cold sore.

Speaker 1

Yeah yeah, I was like what kind of makeup artist is this? Why did they give him a cold sore? Or did he have one already and then they were just like let's just say that's a bruise? Oh maybe I guess that efficient.  One in four people have cold sores. So no, I know that's why I didn't want to like make it like a thing of like laughing that it could be herpes. 'cause I was like no that's messed up.

Speaker 1

So that's why I just said it cold, sorry not herpes, but it looks. They're the same different virus yeah.

Speaker 1

Yeah yeah the same name so it it confuses people.

Speaker 1

I just didn't want to stigmatize people with herpes.

Speaker 1

Yeah, well yeah cold sores fine but I just wanted to say why does Aida kiss it?

Speaker 2

That's what I wrote down.

Speaker 2

Is it in this scene? No. Yeah, doesn't. She get up and leave after. Oh yeah, I did write it down. I was like oh why does she kiss his bruise slash cold sore?

Speaker 1

I don't know, it's weird 'cause I think it's supposed to be OK. I will let it go. I'm gonna keep talking about that.

Speaker 2

Let it go.

Speaker 1

Bruise slash cold sore., Yes, but before she does this before she gives it a kiss for some strange reason. They're sitting there and they're like what could we possibly ever need from Teresa. Muerta de hambre. Yeah, but what could rich people like us ever need from her?

Speaker 1

So it's whatever it is, it's good.

Speaker 2

Oh aren't they like

Speaker 2

Wait, or is it the last episode? I guess this is the same scene, so when they're like what you gonna do? You want her poor boys to beat us up. Yeah? And then Paulo is like whatever if that happens, we'll just let him rot in jail forever because we're rich and we of course, of course they say that yeah, because it's true.

Speaker 1

Everywhere in the world  yes yeah.

Speaker 1

So.

Speaker 1

That ends there I think we go. Yeah, this is where she then leaves and she's like pulls out a picture of Teresa again. She's like this is the woman that you're fawning over again over yeah, so she still being a desesperada. Yeah.

Speaker 2

And then she kisses his bruise and then she's like Ouch, like out what that's so weird. And then she leaves. Then we go to Teresa's house where Teresa's mom is telling Rosa and Johnny to tell her the truth. Rosa is getting better at lying apparently I think.

Speaker 2

I feel like she learned from Teresa from her big sister, yes, so she's like, but all siblings learn how to lie from their siblings

Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah, they're the their first teachers.

Speaker 2

Yeah, siblings.

Speaker 2

Except we learn to lie together I guess.

Speaker 2

'cause Yeah, I mean, 'cause we're like close in age and we're older

Speaker 1

No 'cause we're Twins? What do you mean close in age.

Speaker 1

Oh I, I thought you were talking about Luis, out brother.

Speaker 1

I was talking about both of us, Luis learned from us, yes.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and he was way better at it.

Speaker 1

He surpassed us.

Speaker 2

He's Teresa

Speaker 2

But, uh, Rosa lies to her. And, um, she believes her OK, and it's a dumbass lie because so, um, I didn't like write down exactly what she says, but doesn't she? So she says she needs some kind of blood work for the gym, right? Some kind of lab work to get that done for the gym, and that's all it is. But I'm like, wouldn't the gym had.

Speaker 2

Wouldn't they have sent home so kind of consent form for the mom to sign? Yeah, maybe they do things differently in Mexican gyms, I don't know, but she's underage. So like I feel like there there have to be some kind of.

Speaker 2

Parent permission there. But whatever the mom believes or I think she does believe her for some reason.

Speaker 1

Uh, and then we go over to. Mariachi guy

Speaker 2

That's what I call him too, 'cause I don't remember his name name. I don't know. Wanna think it's Pablo, but I feel like that. I thought that, that's the that's the kids name, never mind. Yes Pablito.

Speaker 1

Humberto

Speaker 2

That doesn't sound right at all.  Just making **** up, Yeah?

Speaker 2

So he walks into their house.

Speaker 1

And then we.

Speaker 2

He he asked Mariano for a favor, and then he says, a mueble, but he needs Mariano's help to put a mueble in his taxi, and I was like at first I thought a mueble was  a couch, but I guess it's any kind of furniture. Yeah, I think so, because it is not a couch. What kind of couch fits inside? It would fit in back of a taxi? Yeah, yeah, none.

Speaker 1

And then we go to Teresa walking out of her house or something, or walking.

Speaker 1

Behind why she? Oh she must be getting home and Aurora is in front of her and um, she Hella mean mugs her best friend who does that? God Yeah and so Aurora's just there being the sweet sweet friend that she is, with her angelic face. Yes, she really does. How does someone look that nice? I don't know.

Speaker 1

I have I don't know I have RBF.

Speaker 1

I look lost.

Speaker 1

You don't have RBF. Teresa is treated her horribly. She's being so rude for no reason. Yeah, I think it's a defense mechanism. She's built up, you know. Yeah, I know she's been a bit. I don't know, I don't know. I mean, I think with TeresaI you don't know but I think she's probably just being a *****

Speaker 1

Um, she looks Hella evil. And then she's acting OK then she tells  Aurora oh por fin vienes aca,  as if she had ever invited Aurora to step inside. Even Aurora is like  I haven't come here because you yeah haven't invited me.

Speaker 2

Yeah, sou like why are you telling her you never come here when you're the one who doesn't invite her? And then at the end of it she still doesn't invite her in? Yeah, right? She's like, uh. Anyway, let's go. I'm still not gonna let you in my house we can't talk, it's too small for us to talk in peace like what no ones even home damn OK not like the good friend she is she's like.

Speaker 1

Let's go.

Speaker 1

Yeah, but also during this time.

Speaker 2

She's talking about how she wouldn't be friends. She's friends with friends with her now, but once their economic differences start to weigh on her that it's gonna, you know, affect their friendship. But I'm like they've been friends all throughout High School. How would that?

Speaker 2

Like you know what I mean? How would that change after? Like that doesn't make any sense. Yeah, so the economic differences. Don't don't didn't come into factor in high school. Yeah, they would have already been affected by them, right? Yes, I I don't know.

Speaker 2

So then she sees Mariano walking out with mariachi guy out of Mariano's house.

Speaker 2

And then Teresea is, um, oh, would you date someone from this neighborhood?

Speaker 1

Teresa sees them, right?

Speaker 1

Yeah, that's what I meant, yeah, and but they don't see her, they don't see them. No, Aurora doesn't see him either and Aurora is like thinking about it. And then we cut from that scene. We don't hear her answer makes it seem like she's not going to answer.

Speaker 1

Oh

Speaker 1

Yeah, it comes back. What happens next?

Speaker 1

Right after that it goes.

Speaker 1

Um Paola

Speaker 1

No, sorry. Paulo

Speaker 1

It just made Paolo a girl. is that when he picks up his mom, no no no. It goes to Paola. Oh my god.

Speaker 1

OK, so then they go. We go to.

Speaker 1

Paulo and not Paula. Paulo's mom and AIda's mom.

Speaker 2

At the rich people club, the Tennis Club, whatever it is, the Country Club Country Club and Aida's mom is talking about going to Paris and Genoveva was like, Oh yeah, that's so good for you.

Speaker 2

She's being a *****

Speaker 1

Yeah, and they're talking about her marriage and blah blah blah and then.

Speaker 1

Aida's mom leaves and then Genoveva, she basically calls her a dumb**s. She's  like idiot idiot if you only knew what a man whore your husband was, why didn't she tell her? I don't know. A true friend would have said something right right? I would think I don't know.

Speaker 1

I don't know and then sometimes.

Speaker 2

You don't want to get involved with that kind of stuff.

Speaker 1

But it's true. I don't know. I would be like.

Speaker 2

It's like we, if you're like at the club and then you see like you're.

Speaker 1

You wouldn't not say.

Speaker 1

Anything you would take a picture of him and you would be like what's he doing here. Just do you know this? Are you up to date?

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, or would you stay out of it? I don't know.

Speaker 2

No, I I think the responsible thing is to take a picture discreetly.

Speaker 1

Yeah, so Genoveva  should have said something 'cause she knows. I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure they've cheated together or no. Yeah, I think I wanna say Yeah and that's why she's not saying anything so that makes sense. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1

Shame um, and then Aida walks up and sits down and then we go back to Teresa and Aurora. Yes, and this is where Aurora is like. You know what? Yes, yes, I would date someone in the from this neighborhood.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and then Teresa basically calls her pushover, and she's like, Oh, but what if your dad said something to you or pro? Prohibited prohibited you from dating? Um, yeah. So what if your dad prohibited this relationship and then she was like I don't think he would ask me this and then that it's like, yeah well, what about your career? Have you told him?

Speaker 1

Uh-huh and then she's like Oh no.

Speaker 2

And then they decide to go get coffee somewhere else, because that, as I said, her house is too small.

Speaker 1

And I feel like right after that we go to the coffee scene. Yeah, they're getting coffee. Yeah, OK, that's what I thought. And so they're getting talking more about the career thingy. And this is being a ***** about Aurora's

Speaker 1

Career of choice. She's just such a ***** to Aurora and Aurora is like this is fine.

Speaker 1

Why did she put up with that?

Speaker 1

Right, she can do better she go back.

Speaker 1

To her rich friends.

Speaker 1

But their F****** pitches too. They're all they're all fake. Yeah, but like she knows what she gets with Teresa or she thinks she knows.

Speaker 2

Yeah, because doesn't it get worse later on? Oh yeah, oh good. So much worse.

Speaker 1

Yeah, so there is a. It's like you're really going to be a teacher. You're going to throw away all this opportunity and all this money you have to be a measly teacher.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and then she's like with.

Speaker 2

Your money and resources. You can have an important career and it's like teachers are important. Teachers should get paid more.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I uh, I used to go volunteer at um, I was wondering when you texted me that like 'cause I, I feel like I never really knew why you stop.

Speaker 1 and 2

Why stopped going? Why you stopped pursuing like wanting to be a teacher? oh I'll tell you why I stopped, yeah.. So I went I would volunteer at Hayden's school right? First grade and can no I didn't go. Kindergarten just all of 1st and 2nd grade. I went every like Friday. I remember years ago and it was the worst thing ever. Oh.

Speaker 1

So they sat me down with him and like four other kids who were a little more advanced. Um, and I would play just math games with them, 'cause that's what I did with them. Math an half the time Hayden was just trying to make his friends laugh and he at my expense and I would be like.

Speaker 2

oh he was making fun of you.

Speaker 1

Know just not listening on purpose.

Speaker 2

OK, OK, I know what you mean. That's how parent, I mean parents. That's how kids act sometimes. 'cause they want to be cool. exactly. Yeah exactly. Which is fine. I get it but it was so annoying because then I was like it would be this times 25 other kids and so the other kids in the classroom were like, there was two kids who just would never listen. And then the teacher* would just be like.

Speaker 1

I'm  taking away recess, I'm taking away recess. Oh you're, you have three stickers up that say you've done 3 bad things. One more ( and they gave like no shits) recess.God no, they did not Care.  That used to work on me because I I remember in 4th and see this is how bad it was to me back then that I still remember it now in 4th Grade I got in trouble by Mrs Richardson.

Speaker 1

And I don't remember what the hell I was doing was probably talking, 'cause sometimes I would never shut up in class and she put me on timeout and she had a little corner. You know how those (SO degrading) Yes, because everybody sees you walked through that corner. I got like in front of everyone and like an at least she had it like decorated. Very comfy.

Speaker 2

Oh, thank God. There was a little stool in like a pillow and then, but then there was a little poster like in front that said like time out there was pillows but it was still it was embarrassing and I cried during time out (oh I remember this, I wasn't in  your class but I remember it happening.) Yeah, anyway to reel us back in.

Speaker 1

Aurora would be a great teacher.

Speaker 1

I think I she would

Speaker 1

Would be a fantastic amazing the best yeah?

Speaker 2

So then yeah, they're talking about how her dad wants her to be a doctor, and she says that she has to be a doctor. She preferred to be a pediatrician, 'cause it, like you know, is involved with kids. Yeah, but then she's like, but it's not for me and that sh*t is hard. I confess, I dropped out of Nursing School.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 1

No shame, 'cause it wasn't for me, but Aurora knows it's not for everyone. Yeah, she knows what she wants, Yeah, but she can't tell her dad.

Speaker 2

Yeah, not yet, but I feel like she she'll she'll get some. She'll get there some I wanted I was gonna see some balls but I was trying to find a better way to say it, but I've already said it. Yes so then.

Speaker 1

We go to.

Speaker 2

Wait, no, I wanted to say that MMC. Yeah the MMC thing that you missed. OK so Teresa is like, you creo que tu eres MMC , which means, and I had never heard this before.

Speaker 2

So I don't know if it's a thing or if they just made it. It has to be a thing. Anyway it was. It stands for Mientras me Caso, which means she's basically telling Aurora I think you're just in college while you get married and you don't plan on working. You know, like you're just going to school because your parents want you to go to school, but your goal is not to pursue an education, it's to get.

Speaker 2

Married and, you know, become a housewife which like is, find some people. That's what they want to do, but they have a term for that. MMC, mientras me caso. So what, I thought she said.

Speaker 1

I thought she said, oh, I think you're going to become a pediatrician. That's what I thought, she said. 'cause I didn't register it MMC.  yeah?

Speaker 1

Yeah yeah, yeah oh.

Speaker 1

'cause then that makes sense. 'cause then Aurora was like no. I mean I do wanna get married one day but and I want four kids or some sorry crazy amount.

Speaker 1

I think she said three. Yeah, she probably. I think it's three, um, so that makes sense. That conversation makes sense to me now, yeah.

Speaker 2

OK after that then Paulo picks up his mom yeah yeah.

Speaker 1

Um and this is where she is giving her some weird as shi**y advise. The worst mom ever. Oh my God, yeah.

Speaker 1

So yeah, she's like, forget about Teresa and date a girl, um, show her off to Teresa. Get back at her. Teresa doesn't care. She gives no f***s about Paulo no more. Now she has moved on to bigger and better things. The Profe. She's gone. She's long gone, yeah?

Speaker 1

And this is where she's like. You have to be with someone of our class.

Speaker 2

I was like B***h

Speaker 1

But I have read that the most successful relationships are Oh well, yeah, similar socioeconomic classes so.

Speaker 2

I mean it makes sense, but to just straight up be like.

Speaker 2

Someone at our level.

Speaker 2

Yeah, it's classist, but yeah, that's that's what they are. We've already seen that plenty of times, yeah, and that's just weird advice too. Yeah, it's like date someone else to get over her and show her off, like what did you just tell your kid instead like take your time? Take your time, heal before you jump into another relationship. Yes, Yeah.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and then she says that one quote, but I don't remember what it yes.

Speaker 1

oh yes, un clavo quita otro clavo

Speaker 2

But don't you use a hammer?

Speaker 1

Yes, so it's funny right? Other end of the hammer to like.

Speaker 1

Yeah, nail out.

Speaker 1

And what she says if for those of you who don't speak Spanish, you

Speaker 2

It's it's like the the on saying. another nails no, but I was gonna say it's like, um, 'cause that makes no sense. No, it's um it's like when you say to get over someone you have to be under someone else.

Speaker 2

You never heard that before? No. Yeah, something like that. Yeah, that's basically what she's telling him to do. Get a rebound. Yeah, yeah. Which is not how you get over someone. This is how you get into another unhealthy relationship.

Speaker 2

Yep, and then, uh, we go to Teresa's house. After that, she's there with Dona Juana and Rosa Rosa is begging Teresa too well. OK there, making her dress.. Yeah, my bad. And this is the first dress Rosa, Either she, she helped out with most of it or whatever. But she's like, yeah?

Speaker 1

The first dress she makes mostly by herself.

Speaker 2

Um and then she she asks, Teresa. Dona Juana wants to wants to make her dress looser 'cause it's too tight at her curves or whatever like this F**king, b**** is hella f****** skinny.

Speaker 1

Teresa is like

Speaker 1

This is what I need. She's like I need to be as tight as possible and then she calls her a  Descarada That's my favorite. Reminds me of.

Speaker 1

Um, was it Laura?

Speaker 2

Que entre el desgraciado

Speaker 1

Yeah, it's not the same word, but it just reminds me of it.  it does. It has the same feeling, yeah does. Yeah descarada. Or when Mommy says sin verguenza.  Yes yeah to you.  No that's what I was gonna say. She tells it to me. Mostly to you because you're like no, I need to show off these curves like Teresa

Speaker 2

I'm Teresa. Oh my God.

Speaker 2

I wish. I'm Teresa.

Speaker 1

Do we? have? We said that every episode?

Speaker 2

We're just wishing.

Speaker 1

Yeah, like we've well.

Speaker 1

Every time we're like.

Speaker 2

Like we've established, we can't morally be like her, but we want to, Yeah, but we can't do it.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

So, um, no. But first of all, I've never been anybody rich to try to like gold dig of off  either way. so I'm like I can't. Where does this happen.. Wow. Where do you meet? Where do you meet rich guys? I guess you have to go to like a like a good.

Speaker 2

Uh University, like she wants to, that's why why she wants to go there? I attend classes on line. This is never gonna happen for me I'm just kidding, I'm happy. I went to state School. Oh yeah me too no no one's gonna believe us now now. I swear, we're happy we're about Happy Yeah.

Speaker 1

Now you're being like Esperanza. Having just kidding, I said it twice to reassure us we're happy. We're just joking though. OK, so after, um, she tries the dress on and she calls her descarada. Rosa is like oh by the way, I'm gonna have a party in la vecindad. And Teresa is like ew.

Speaker 1

She's like, well, it's gonna be a coperacha. Yeah everyone's gonna cooperate. I couldn't remember what it was. The word. That's the word and then she's like well I'm glad to see you're finally going for what you're after that's what you have to do in this life to get what you want yeah and then she's like can you ask my dad for money though? Because he's gonna give it to you and not me and like damn that's F******* damn it kind of reminds me of when we would ask Oh yeah.

Speaker 1

Luis to ask for like McDonald's 'cause they would say yes to him. But and so I used to think it was because he was the favorite. But now I think it's because he was the most annoying and so he would just go on and on and on and they would just give in.  He was relentless. Yeah stood up for what he wanted. He's Teresa. He's Teresa. This is the second time we say it.

Speaker 2

You know what if, if there's any one of us, that's the most like Teresa I think it's him.

Speaker 1

I'm glad he doesn't listen.

Speaker 1

So Teresa is like no, you asked for your things. You're supposed to get or try and get what you want., not me and then she's like no this is me trying to get what I want by asking you and she's like OK fine I'll ask him for money for you. But that just sad. I feel so bad for Rosa. I know it's so evident that that she's not liked.

Speaker 1

Or that she is least liked. yeah and there's only two of them so.

Speaker 2

Damn yeah, there should be at least be a third one so that the two can bond together about how Teresa is the favorite exactly, yeah. Like we did.

Speaker 1

No, no, because if you ask him that I know I feel like all kids are probably like this also yes, I mean Yeah, but in this case it's clear that they do prefer Tessa and not only the parents, the whole neighborhood everyone, every all of them. Yeah, they prefer her over their own kid. Poor Rosa has a complex.

Speaker 2

Probably the whole neighborhood knows at this point Johnny he thinks he's dumb, which he is.

Speaker 1

So then.

Speaker 2

While this is happening. Esperanza and her family are also in Oh, you know what? No right after this they come. Yeah, it's right after and and Pablito is there. He's sick. Who knows what's wrong with him? He has a fever or something kind of stomach is probably worse actually. Yeah, I think yes cancer, but they don't know it yet. I try something that's what ends up happening and so, um.

Speaker 1

Wait, who's house are they? Yeah, because Teresa is there too. Teresa's house. Oh OK. Esperanza and her mom are visiting and oh OK, so yeah, I was going to say I still don't know but I found it out in this episode. Yeah so they're talking. Yeah, and they're all talking and then, uh, Esperanza's mom is like oh, can you ask one of your doctor friends? You're always doing them so much so many favors.

Speaker 2

Working so much overtime at Rubens House. Yeah, or a hotel. Uh, Teresa's facial expressions are amazing. She's like she's like if they were just turned to look at her, they would know.

Speaker 2

Like she is not trying to hide it at all. It's like, although I've I've done that before where I can't hide my facial expressions or I forget that I'm supposed to keep up the lie or I don't catch on. That it's a lie and then I like end up ratting. Yeah someone out with your facial expressions. Luckily they don't look at her. So Esperanza is able to keep her lie going.

Speaker 1

So they leave 'cause they're gonna go check on Pablito and then Teresa's moms like wow, that's a new dress. It looks so nice. Yeah, what's the occasion? And it's like Oh well I'm gonna go see my creepy profe

Speaker 2

And mom is like what you're not going anywhere. And then Teresa gives no f***s she's like OK bye, she smiles just like watch me leave. OK mom watch me go. Bye. then and then poor dona Refugio is gonna straight up have a heart attack she's like holding her chest and she's like. I really feel that she's being so f****** dramatic and.

Speaker 2

Exaggerating about this, I really do, but Teresa knows what she's doing, but I'm like, don't you know your f****** daughter? Like they don't. They don't know her, they don't. I guess she's well at hiding it, which I don't know how 'cause she has not been well at hiding it. So obvious to all of us. Yeah, so I can search it. Damn I guess then the mom runs out, dona refugio and begs Mariano to stop Teresa

Speaker 1

And she doesn't even want to tell him what's happening. And I'm like this is what's wrong with.

Speaker 2

Uuuh Mexican parents. I'm just going, no, You're right. No I'm not kidding. Yeah, that they they never want to talk about what's happening because it the're ashamed or they want to hide it. You know, yeah, and so they well they make something else up sometimes. Yeah, we've all seen it. She acts like Teresa is getting kidnapped and not going over there on her own free will. And she's like you have to save her.

Speaker 1

Save her from what, yeah? So then we get to Teresa arriving and she's like in awe at the sight of this house and I'm like OK you can hide it a little bit better. My God yeah, hide it. She's like she's like Gawking at this house, which is fine you know.

Speaker 1

At least at least get it all out before you go in there. Like Oh my God, don't let anyone see you being this dramatic about it, she said. So she goes inside and the Profe's sister is like. I didn't know the professor name up until now.

Speaker 2

Yeah, well, I've been just been calling the Profe

Speaker 1

It's Arturo. Or Arturo de Barrera

Speaker 1

They keep saying it.

Speaker 1

Oh wow, Yikes. Where have you been? But I just call him creepy profe

Speaker 1

Yeah, I like that better so she tells her she needs an appointment and.

Speaker 2

Also, she's a weirdo

Speaker 1

******* weird, yeah. So then she just sits down. She looks so worried for no reason at first.

Speaker 1

Well, OK, she's she's not even acting like a sister. She's acting like a jealous girlfriend. Yeah, which is weird.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I think I don't know.

Speaker 1

Teresa's, like, Uh, I'm gonna sit right here.

Speaker 2

She's being Hella Rude. She's just invites herself in.  yeah and she's like plops  down on the couch.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I'll wait right here.

Speaker 1

I'm gonna wait.

Speaker 1

So then we come back to Dona Refugio and Don Armando, Teresa is straight up playing him. And Dona Refugio is like how do you not see this Armando? And oh, I forgot that, um, that she did talk to him about this already, 'cause when he was like Oh no, she already talked to me, but it's cool.

Speaker 1

It's fine, I was like when when did this even happen? Last episode, yeah?

Speaker 1

And then we end that scene and then we see Mariano trying to get creepy profe's address at the college. He's lying. He's like I have these camarones. I would have fell for that. I would have been like like, yeah, those can't go bad, Here is his address you can't let camarones go bad, here you go. But this

Speaker 2

Not the ceviche.

Speaker 1

Yeah, not the ceviche, but this lady is like no.

Speaker 2

She knows him and she's like he's too classy for ceviche

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

Profe doesn't eat ceviche.

Speaker 1

It's quinoa. Oh yeah, I don't know. I'm just trying to think like no, no, I was just gonna say it's lobster. Yeah, yeah. So then we go back to profe's house and profe's sis is looking so worried which when she glances at teresa. every time she looks like this uh she has this like 'cause she.

Speaker 2

because , she knows that Teresa like just gawking at everything being alike.

Speaker 2

interesada and you know.

Speaker 2

She's not hiding it at all. Yeah, and that's whatever. Let your brother do what he wants, yeah, so this is where this was like Oh, you're his sister. I was thinking something else you're so pretty and then she's like no.

Speaker 2

No, Oh yeah, 'cause as soon as she finds out that it's his sister she starts being nice to her. Yeah, I'm like if you wanted, you know you should have just been nice right off the bat exactly Yeah, but then so she's like you're so pretty and then she's like no, I'm not pretty. You're pretty and she says it's so weird, so serious. No yo no soy bonita, tu eres bonita.

Speaker 2

Yeah, it's so random and it's like.

Speaker 2

Why are you like this?

Speaker 1

And then after Arutro walks up behind them and then we come back to la vecindad and he still.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, Armando is still like Don Armando is still like no it's fine, Teresa said that there's scholarships and then. - I'm going to sneeze.

Speaker 1

Back away from the mic if you sneeze.

Speaker 1

It went away, the feeling went away OK.

Speaker 1

So then Dona Refugio  like at what cost Armando? No, there's no scholarships there and he's like, oh.

Speaker 1

What what she said there was, what do you mean?

Speaker 1

My daughter like 'cause she lied.

Speaker 1

Then we go back to El Profe and Teresa in his office and it's also weird. The whole scene is so weird. It's so weird so ** ***** like he's so creepy.

Speaker 1

He's just being super creepy. She's like, tell me.

Speaker 1

What you really want, and he's like, no, tell me what you're willing to give me and she's like well, what are you watching is like? Well, what are you gonna give me?

Speaker 2

That song that Spice Girls song that's like in my head when she's like.

Speaker 1

Do you want, yeah.

Speaker 1

Oh my God, it's a It's just this weird back and forth and he looks like this weird like flirting. Yeah I know that you can handle this and she's like I can handle whatever he's like. Can you handle it? And then they're just going back and forth about handling it.

Speaker 1

It's super weird. I don't know, um, so then we come back after that. That seems, um, it's still going. Then we go back to Esperanza, who walks into Dona? Oh, I completely forgot him. Oh yeah, yeah she, I don't know. Yeah I have it here so you're right, not all of them have phones. Yeah, I know, I was guessing.

Speaker 1

So she goes to Dona Juana's house.

Speaker 1

Dona Juana's house and wants to use her phone and she's like 3 pesos. Give me them, but she's like no, she's gotta a thing going here. Yeah, charge it then. She's kidding. She won't charge Esperanza's family yeah, everyone else, she'll charge the other neighbors though. Yeah, they're all fair game.

Speaker 1

And who does she wait? Oh no, she doesn't. It doesn't show her calling him yet right now 'cause it cuts to back to profe. Creepy Profe and Teresa. And this is where she's like. Why, why don't

Speaker 1

Don't you work for me.

Speaker 1

Why maybe I have it out of order? 'cause I have that she does call and now they show Aida's house. Yeah and she's having cafecito  with her parents.

Speaker 2

Yeah, and then she calls Ruben and he's being an a**

Speaker 1

Yeah, you're right. Yeah, seems to balance cheating and family life and work life really well. Well, they all do. At first. he has hours for everything he's like. Don't contact me yet. Yeah, 'cause he's like you know you're not supposed to call me at this time. Yeah, but he's acting like it's a work call which he comes off really well.

Speaker 2

Esperanza is just on the other line. Like a dumb a**

Speaker 1

Yeah yeah and so then he hangs up and he's like Oh no big deal it was just work and she's like oh is there a problem? oh there's always problems at work don't worry.

Speaker 2

I feel like she has to.

Speaker 2

Suspect something but no.

Speaker 1

She's just dumb too. Yeah, I'm probably or she's lying to herself about it. I don't know.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I feel like at least.

Speaker 2

Aida has to suspect something too, right?

Speaker 1

They would think yeah, Yeah, 'cause you can tell.

Speaker 1

Yeah, then, uh, we come back to Teresa and creepy profe. Now we're back at the profe's house. This is where she tells him she wants her to work for him and they finally start talking about actual work. Yeah, instead of that other weird sexual innuendos, yes, so um, he's like I just want the first few years of your career.

Speaker 2

And he's correct, like a stipend, yeah, yeah, like what I have exactly, but it wasn't. It wasn't a sexy profe  that offered it to me, you know.

Speaker 2

It was the goverment

Speaker 1

It's not sexy at all, no?

Speaker 1

Um, so he's caressing a chair behind her while he rubs it like a creep, like creepy profe And he's like, yeah, you need to get the best grades and work for me. And you're gonna not gonna have time for anything fun, no distractions which means no boyfriends probably.

Speaker 2

Because then he's gonna be her boyfriend. Yeah, yeah yeah. It's I mean it's so exploitative, but Teresa ain't no fool. Yeah, she knows exactly what she's getting into, so she has to maintain like a high GPA. She has to be the top of her class. Yeah, um? And then she agrees. But before she shakes his hand, she moves it away. And she's like I'm.

Speaker 1

I need to ask you for something before I agree. Yeah, you don't know what that is yet and they cut to Mariano's showing up. Yeah, Mariano is outside the gate being crazy.

Speaker 2

And how did he find the address, do they say?

Speaker 1

Oh, I was wondering if it was up. Yeah, maybe. Maybe she finally was like OK he needs his camarones.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Here he found someone else, another person. Maybe she went on her break and then another somebody else showed up an. And then she believed the the camarones, she was new also.

Speaker 2

So he's outside climbing the gate. The poor house lady who she does not deserve this drama. Yeah, not at all sweet Lady. Yeah so she's just like ay, bajate, what are you doing? Yeah, Poor lady they don't pay me enough for the shit. They probably don't. No. They probably don't. So then the sister comes out and she's like why do you have this negative attitude?

Speaker 2

Why would you say that? Why wouldn't you say what the hell are you doing? Yeah, I don't know why you have this negative attitude, but I need you to get off my gate. Get your negative attitude.

Speaker 2

Off my fence.

Speaker 1

And then, um.

Speaker 1

He's like this. This lawyer is, uh, taking advantage, yeah, and then, she's like I need to refer to him as  el licensiado.

Speaker 1

Someone just accused your brother of being a creep, and you're like refer to him as lawyer. I don't know what.

Speaker 2

EL Licensiado. s a creep.

Speaker 1

Mariano  is gonna be like well el licensiado

Speaker 1

Is, taking advantage.

Speaker 1

However, Teresa again instead of her own will, and she knows exactly. And well, and that's what sister profe says which I never caught her name either. I don',  just been calling her sister profe. yes, me too, sister Profe. Who knows, I am and she's like, well, she's here of her own will and Teresa,  which is true. And then she said. And then.

Speaker 1

There, I don't know. They're like arguing or whatever, and then the the sister goes back inside, right? And she's basically like, do you really want her? You really want her to be working for you? Look at the people she hangs out with. Basically she's calling them ghetto. Look at the company she keeps. Mariano did go over there, hella ghettos

Speaker 2

But like it's, I feel like it's the moms fall 'cause she really blew this, over played what was happening. Yeah she blew it hell out of proportion. She thinks that that profe is taking advantage of the Teresa. They should be worrying about el profe.. They should be worried about him, not the other way around. Yeah yeah, yeah, so the creepy.

Speaker 1

Profe's sister is like I don't want her. fine hire her, pay for her college whatever, but don't. I don't want her in this house again and then he's like surprised Pikachu face.

Speaker 2

What you mean? So then it 'cause it's so weird. I don't understand the relationship dynamic. It's it's creepy. I guess it's perfect. 'cause he's creepy. She's creepy. They are creepy. Yeah, there. Actually it's like the Mexican Gothic book. That's the house.

Speaker 2

Well I pictured it a little more

Speaker 2

Rundown, but yeah, basically there have - have you read the book? Yeah, I told you finished it right? Yeah yeah I bought I bought it because I my friend let me borrow it and I just want I need my own copy so I ordered it.

Speaker 1

So good so I love it.

Speaker 1

You know they made it a show.

Speaker 1

Yes, yeah, they just started the production. I can into a show on Hulu, right? Yeah.

Speaker 2

This is sponsored by Mexican Gothic. I'm just kidding.

Speaker 1

I wish I wish.

Speaker 2

She's my favorite author now.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I I ordered another book to the one you had told me about so good. Yes gotta read it. The Gods of gods, Jade and shadow. Yeah gods of something.

Speaker 1

I know I heard you.

Speaker 1

Read it, everyone is so good. OK back to this yeah um oh wait before we go on to the next scene or whatever. I

Speaker 2

I just I needed to point out that I just and I don't remember when we first talked about like nobody else and what we didn't like about them. Um, I. I don't even think I ever mentioned that. I hate how they glorify machismo. Yes, yeah, and like I guess, which that I don't know. What is my everyone knows, a machismo is right, but it it translates to what toxic masculinity would you say?

Speaker 2

Yeah yeah, OK so it glorifies toxic, masculine masculinity and um, because Mariano is like really aggressive with her always. He like manhandled her. But he's supposed to be the good guy. We're supposed to be rooting for him, right? Yeah, he's the good guy in this, but he still manhandling her.

Speaker 2

You know, she's there of her own well, right? Yeah, so  he doesn't understand that none of them understand that she knows what she's doing, but he, like grabs her, pulled her picture up, pushes her into the taxi, and this is not the first time he does it. He did before, yeah.

Speaker 1

We're just two episodes in and this is the second time he manhandles her.

Speaker 1

Yep.

Speaker 1

And they're arguing. And she's like, oh, what you still like me? Is that why that's what she gets? Are you jealous? Yeah, that's what she?

Speaker 1

And he's like no

Speaker 2

Your mom made me come.

Speaker 1

Your mom sent me and then her face is like what she's like no how dare she so then they yes. We cut back to  la vecindad

Speaker 1

And Dona Juana and mariachi guy are there chismeando about Teresa's family.

Speaker 1

Yeah, they're like ay los comprades, hasta ya se pelearon

Speaker 1

And then Teresa and  Mariano arrive and Teresa walks past them, and then they're like, Oh my, don't know what's happening. Then he walks past them. What Teresa says  that Mariano embarrassed her humiliated her, which he did. Yes he did. And then they both just.

Speaker 1

Walk.

Speaker 1

Yeah, then they get inside and that's a super annoyed with her mom, yes?

Speaker 1

She yeah she walks in and then the mom is like are you?

Speaker 1

OK, and she's like they were saying, OK, yeah wouldn't I be OK?

Speaker 1

But I mean it's true. It's like like I like we have said that Teresa knows exactly what she's doing and she is taking advantage of it profe, Yeah, but they don't know that they don't know. Yeah so.

Speaker 1

She tells them she twists up the story. She tells him that he just wants her to work for him.

Speaker 1

I mean it's true she just left out the weird flirty thing they had going on. You're right, yeah, yeah, so she yeah, she just changes the story a little bit changes the narrative narrative so that her parents believe her. Yeah, which they do? Mom still looks like definitely a little suspicious. Yeah, she's still a little suspect of her, yeah?
